Dogwood Crossing - Art Gallery & Community Centre
Named after the local Dogwood Creek, the multipurpose building encompasses a library, art gallery, IT centre and conference rooms that host public programs and events.
This award-winning structure features seven giant metal bottle trees standing tall in a row outside and inside the building.
Chinaman’s Lagoon - featuring rare native water lilies
Located on the southern outskirts of the township, this park is extraordinary in that it has a spectacular showing of Australian Native water lilies. These beautiful pink lilies are a rare species and are extinct in their natural habitat and Chinamans Lagoon is one of the few locations left in Australia where they grow.
With picnic tables onsite and a concrete walking track to town along Dogwood Creek, it is a perfect spot to visit. You can read about the lagoon’s namesake on the interpretive signage – which follows the story of an outlaw Chinese market gardener who migrated to Miles in 1880.
Note: the water lilies are only in full bloom during the summer and autumn months.
